I would just like to share a few tips on what to look out for in buying personal shredders:
Kind of cut. There are strip-cut shredders and cross-cut ones.
Volume or capacity. Low volume users can use shredders designed for 100-150 sheets per day. High volume users need more than a personal shredder. A personal shredder capacity of 4-5 sheets is best.
Throat. Look for a throat or opening (where you feed the paper) that is large enough to accommodate the size of paper you normally use and later shred.
Extra Features. Look for the additional features you need. Like an automatic start/stop once the shredder detects the presence of paper. Or an alert buzz once it encounters a paper jam or a full basket. There are also shredders with a reverse feed, which helps clear out paper jams. A clear view of the shredder basket also allows you to see when the basket needs to be emptied.
