Pros and Cons

Pros design is nice
Cons after 3 months it started jamming and now will only reverse. I did everything reccommended to maintain performance and wish I had bought a less expensive.

Review

I will NOT make theis mistake again. Parts breakdown after 3 months of proper use and maintence was a big dissapointment.

Review

I have an Ativa DQ120D shredder that I bought in 2007. We rarely use it but have liked it mostly until all of sudden the paper wraps around the blades and now the blades are bent. The machine is useless. After some emails and phone calls, I discovered the following: The blades have a 3 year warranty and you can get reimbursed for this crappy machine with an Office Depot gift card. You just have to provide the receipt. If you don't have your original receipt, you can provide the date of purchase, receipt amount and store location then Office Depot can provide you with a receipt at 800-721-6592. I looked through my statements, pulled them up online in PDF format, did a search for Office Depot on each statement and eventually found the transaction that I needed. It didn't really take that long, and it was well worth it to be compensated for this poor quality machine. The number to call for a case number is 877-777-4357 and the fax to use to send your receipt is 888-561-0785. Be sure to write your name, phone number and case number on the receipt before you fax it. Hope this helps and saves others time to find out this information. :-)

I have used this shredder only 4 months. Worked great - at first!!! Always careful to put 2-3 sheets at a time and no staples. The teeth are bent and caught up on each other. Now the plastic discs are so damaged that paper just wraps in the blades. The only thing that works on this is the waste can.

Review

Worked great for the first 3 months. The removable waste can is a nice feature. However, the shredder kept getting pieces of paper stuck and it kept jamming. We oiled it and only shredded about 5 pages at a time. I took it apart and noticed these plastic tabs between each of the blades. 4 had snapped off and bent/jammed the blades in the center. Called the manufacturer and was shot down.

Don\'t let the high price and pretty look fool you. Cheap plastic parts inside.

We bought this one at office depot on sale inn april. Oiled it and maintained it carefully. Nothing big going in, just paper then shredded disk. It worked fine for 6 months then kept getting jammed up. Its hard to clean compared with my last one that lasted 8 years.
